  • Condition: Rather you own a Irish Setter or just have a furry family member, this is a beautiful example of this very old piece, which (for its age) looks very nearly new with no damage and only very minor signs of age, wear, or loss of bronze/gold tone. The rough overall measurements are 5 1/2" wide, 3 1/2" deep (front to back), and stands 2 3/8" tall at the head.

    Description

    Up for auction/sale is an antique (or very near antique) cast iron dog, which I believe is an Irish or English Setter resting with their head at attention. I found several of these with the 3977 embossed stamp, but most either never had or lost their golden luster, but the dates varied from 1910 -1930, so I suspect circa 1920.
    This figure consists of two pieces with a screw keeping the head in place. Some sellers referenced the head swiveling, but this one is tight and movement very minimal. It's my opinion, you wouldn't want to swivel this for fear of damaging the bronze/golden coating, but I could see where you could loosen the head and change the dogs angle of view if you were so inclined.
